Rod ends consist of an eye-shaped head with integral shank that forms a housing for a spherical plain bearing. As a rule, SA--E type bearing with a stretching rod, and rod ends are available with left or right-hand female (internal) or male (external) threads.
SA--E type bearing is made up of a radial spherical plain bearing GE--E and rod body, for the rod body, it usually plates zinc on the surface. SA--E series don’t have a lubrication, while the housing of type SA--ES is with a lubrication hole and a grease nipple.

Heim rod ends are also available with a variety of platings, coatings and materials, and with a wide range of optional features such as lubrication fittings, left hand threads, and keyway slots. Rod ends are available in both inch and metric sizes.
Rod ends have very low friction and can be operated without maintenance. They are used for applications where long bearing lives are required without maintenance, or where operating conditions, such as inadequate lubrication or the absence of lubrication make the use of steel-on-steel bearing inadvisable. The maintenance-free bearings are primarily intended for applications where loads are heavy and have a constant direction.
