Tapered roller bearings consist of four interdependent components: cone ( the inner ring), cup ( the outer ring), rollers( rolling elements) and cage ( roller retainer). They manage both thrust and radial loads on rotating shafts.

Basically, the four-row tapered roller bearing has similar performance as two-row series’, but the only difference is that the four-row series can sustain heavier radial loads with a little lower limit speed. By using four rows of rollers, this kind of bearings relieves the loads pressed on each roller and thus reducing wears and extending the service life of the rollers. Due to this, they are mainly used in heavy machines like the rolling mills.

Our four-row tapered roller bearing 38000 series comprises of two double inner races, two single and one double outer races, with an inner race spacer and two outer race spacers. The intermediate rings are used to adjust the clearances, the size of which has a significant influence on whether the bearings can work well. If the clearances was too small, the bearings would be easily to be warmed up. However, if the clearances was too big, the bearings would be easily to be damaged. Therefore, it is extremely important to adjust the axial clearances to a reasonable size when the bearings are installed.
