Thrust roller bearing features strong axial loading capacity, self-aligning, the concentricity and shaft deflection have small impacts to the bearing. Different structures have different allowable self-aligning angles. Generally, thrust roller bearings series provides 29200 series with 1-1.5°,  29300 series with 1.5-2°,  29400 series angles of misalignment within 2-3°.  If the axial load is higher, the allowable self-aligning angle is smaller.

29200 series bearings feature spherical shape rollers and self-aligned spherical raceway housing washer. The roller of 29200 type bearing is an asymmetrical spherical roller, which can reduce the relative sliding of the roller and the raceway during work. And the roller is long, the diameter is large, the number of rollers is large, which creates high load capacity. This type of bearings are designed to carry very heavy thrust loads in one direction at low to moderate speeds. The design allows for some radial load while thrust load is imposed. The spherical shape of the outer ring raceway allows for handling of some misalignment.

29200 type thrust roller bearings are usually lubricated with oil and can be lubricated with grease at individual low speeds.

Spherical roller thrust bearings usually adopt steel pressed cages or machined solid cages.

29200 series thrust roller bearings are mainly used in heavy machinery, high power marine gearboxes, oil rigs, vertical motors and other machinery.
