Tapered roller bearings 31300 series have tapered inner and outer raceways and rollers to handle simultaneous radial and thrust loads. Their axial load carrying capacity is directly related to the contact angle of the rollers and raceway shaft.

The individual parts of tapered roller bearings are commonly sold separately as cups and cones. Cones contain the roller assembly and inner ring while cups include the outer ring. Full assembly units contain both the cup and cone. As separable bearings, different designs and sizes are available to accommodate a variety of applications.

Tapered roller bearings of the series 31300 are axially particularly high resilient due to its large contact angle. Its outer ring is narrower than from most of the tapered roller bearings of other series with the same inner diameter.

In tapered roller bearings, the rolling elements have a conical shape. They withstand high radial loads. In addition, the tapered roller bearing can withstand axial forces from one direction. If two tapered roller bearings are installed, axial loads in both directions are also possible.

Tapered roller bearings feature tapered rollers and matching tapered raceways on the inner and outer rings. The taper lines of the raceways and the rolling axis of the tapered rollers intersect at some point on the bearing axis.
