Single direction thrust ball bearing 51300 series consists of one raw of balls (with cage), a shaft washer (close fit with shaft), and a housing ring (loose fit with shaft and close fit with bore of bearing block). The thrust ball bearings are separate, and the shaft ring, race, and ball cage assembly can be installed separately. For this series, these thrust ball bearings are neither sealed nor shielded.

The steel balls of single direction thrust ball bearings are arranged between a shaft housing washer. The contact angle is 90° and axial loads can be supported in only one direction. Generally, these bearings are unsuitable for high speed operation.

Featuring the same construction as our ball bearings, the inner ring, outer ring and balls are made of bearing steel. After production, they are heat treat hardened to get a durable wear surface on the balls and ball tracks. All ball retainers and shields are manufactured from cold rolled steel.

The ball retainer can also be made of different materials, such as nylon or metal. A nylon retainer offers several advantages over a metal one. Injection molded, heat stabilized nylon retainers are lightweight, provide a natural lubricity eliminating the need for lubrication. Nylon retainers are corrosion resistant, provide quieter operation and a long service life. Another important advantage is that nylon retainers are less expensive and make a great economical choice.
