Disassembly and assembly of the coupling1

Disassembly is the opposite process of assembly, and the purpose of the two is different. The assembly process is to assemble the coupling according to the assembly requirements, so that the coupling can transmit torque safely and reliably. Disassembly is generally due to equipment failure or the coupling itself needs maintenance, and the coupling is disassembled into parts. The degree of disassembly is generally determined according to the maintenance requirements. Some only require the two shafts of the connection to be disengaged, and some not only need to disassemble all the couplings, but also remove the hub from the shaft. There are many types of couplings with different structures, and the disassembly process of the coupling is also different. This article mainly introduces some problems that need to be paid attention to in the disassembly of the coupling. Due to the tight connection between the coupling gear and the vibration shaft (interference fit) and the small space in the flange, it is difficult to remove the coupling gear. To this end, we designed a special disassembly tool, which is simple, convenient and practical. If the coupling itself is faulty and needs to be disassembled, the whole coupling should be carefully checked first (especially for the damaged coupling), and the cause of the failure should be found out. Before the coupling is disassembled, some marks should be made on the positions where the various parts of the coupling cooperate with each other for reference during reassembly. Couplings used for high-speed machines, the connecting bolts of which are weighed, must be clearly marked and cannot be mistaken. When disassembling the coupling, generally remove the connecting bolts first. Due to the deposition of a layer of grease, corrosion products and other deposits on the surface of the thread, the bolt is not easy to disassemble, especially for the bolt with severe corrosion, it is very difficult to disassemble. The disassembly of the connecting bolt must select a suitable tool, because the force surface of the outer hexagon or the inner hexagon of the bolt has been slipped and damaged, and the disassembly will be more difficult. For bolts that have been corroded or have a lot of grease, often use a solvent (such as rust remover) to spray the connection between the bolt and the nut, so that the solvent can penetrate into the thread, which will make it easy to disassemble. The hardest part of the coupling removal process is removing the hub from the shaft. For keyed hubs, generally use a three-legged puller or a four-legged puller for disassembly. The selected puller should match the external dimensions of the wheel hub, and the right-angle hooks of each foot of the puller should be properly combined with the rear side of the wheel hub, so that no slippage occurs when force is applied. This method is only used for the disassembly of the hub with a relatively small interference. For the hub with a relatively large interference, the heating method is often used, or it is disassembled with a hydraulic jack at the same time. Cleaning, cleaning and quality evaluation of all the parts of the coupling are An extremely important work after the coupling is disassembled. The evaluation of parts means that after each part is in operation, the existing conditions of its size, shape and material properties are compared with the quality standards determined by the design of the parts to determine which parts can continue to be used and which parts should be used.
