A ball thrust bearing is a particular type of rotary ball bearing. Thrust bearings are designed to handle axial loads while operating at high speed. Higher speed applications needs oil lubrication. Bearings are composed of bearing rings with raceway grooves for the balls. Axial 51100 series thrust ball bearings are suitable for relatively high axial loads in one direction. They have smaller dimensions than 51200 series with the same inner diameter and are dismountable. Commonly, used to reduce noise and provide smooth motion for vertical shafts in automotive, marine and aerospace applications.

51100 Series Thrust Ball Bearings feature Metric bore diameters from 10mm up to 110mm, but unlike common ball bearings, these are neither sealed nor shielded.

Featuring the same construction as our other ball bearings styles, the inner ring, outer ring and balls are made of bearing steel. After production, they are heat treat hardened to own a durable wear surface on the balls and ball tracks. All ball retainers and shields are manufactured from cold rolled steel. Because Thrust Ball Bearings are considered to be open without sealed and exposed to the environment, care must be taken to maintain the life of these ball bearings.

Application

The thrust ball bearings are used in a variety of light duty higher speed axial load applications. These include pumps, valves, machine spindles, rotary tables, and drilling heads to name a few.
