Bearing overheating Overheating is the biggest cause of bearing failure, mainly because bearing heating is usually an alarm signal for abnormal machine operation. The common causes of bearing heating are: (1) The bearing accuracy is low, improper selection of bearing accuracy does not meet the standard or there are differences in selection, because the machine cannot meet the best operating conditions, so it will intuitively lead to bearing heating. Solution: Please use bearings of the accuracy class specified by the official requirements. (2) Large vibration. For example, the difference in the alignment process of the coupling does not meet the requirements, the rotor dynamic and static are unbalanced, the foundation stiffness is poor, the foot is too weak, the rotation stall, and the surge. During the operation of some rotors, due to the corrosion of the medium or the wear of solid impurities or the bending of the shaft, an unbalanced centrifugal force will be generated, which will cause the bearing to heat and vibrate, and the raceway will be severely worn until it is destroyed. (3) Insufficient heat dissipation Insufficient cooling usually manifests as: pipeline blockage, improper selection of cooler, poor cooling effect, etc. Fouling and clogging of the lubricating line cooler will lead to a deterioration of the cooling effect, especially in summer production. The coolers were heavily fouled, and many production sites often had high bearing temperature alarms. A more efficient solution is to pickle the cooler before summer. (4) Improper installation Improper installation is another important cause of bearing heating. Since the correct installation of the bearing will directly affect its life and the accuracy of the host, the centerline of the shaft and the bearing hole must coincide during the installation process. If the bolted roller bearing is not installed correctly, the accuracy is low and the bearing has deflection, torque will be generated during rotation, which will cause the bearing to heat up or wear. Additionally, bearings generate vibration, increase noise, and increase temperature rise. 2. Dust and pollution In precision machinery, motors and other equipment that have high requirements on the environment, various types of suspended particles in the air will enter the working environment of the bearing and cause various dangers. Corrosive particles can wear away components, while conductive particles can interfere with component current flow. Once the particles build up and clog the perimeter of the bearing, overheating is accelerated. Obviously, choosing the right level of IP protection can alleviate this problem to some extent. In outdoor equipment or environments with general conditions, although the entire bearing system has corresponding protection, it should be protected as much as possible to avoid secondary damage to the equipment by sand, gravel and dust. In addition, it is easy to get wet outdoors, and moisture can corrode the bearing parts. When airborne moisture and particulate contamination mix together, it can be deadly to bearings and further shorten the life of the machine. 3. Power supply problems Harmonic currents caused by high frequency switching and pulse width modulation can cause voltage and current distortion, overload and overheating. This shortens machine and bearing life and increases long-term equipment costs. Damage is always caused by partial discharge. The oil film between the bearing inner ring groove and the steel ball acts as a dielectric (capacitor) and is charged by the bearing current. Once the voltage is high enough, a short-circuit discharge occurs, this regular discharge corrodes the metal, and the speed of the rotor accelerates the corrosion. The higher the rotation, the thicker the oil film, the higher the voltage, the greater the damage; at low speeds, the oil film 'touches' a larger area and the risk of damage is greatly reduced. The higher the speed, the higher the power rating, and the higher the DC voltage, the greater the risk of damage. Once the damaged steel ball surface is corroded, it will cause permanent vibration of the inner and outer rings. 4. Improper lubrication Lubrication is a necessary condition to ensure the normal operation of the bearing. Lubrication has a major influence on the fatigue life of rolling bearings as well as on friction, wear and vibration. About 40% of bearing damage is related to poor lubrication. The purpose of bearing lubrication is to form an oil film between the rolling surfaces of the bearing to prevent direct metal-to-metal contact. The effects of lubrication on rolling bearings are as follows: (1) reduce friction and wear and prolong bearing life; (2) discharge friction heat to prevent excessive rise in bearing temperature; (3) prevent foreign matter from invading and play a sealing role; (4) prevent metal corrosion.
