Spherical Roller Bearings 23900 series are designed to work in applications where severe misalignment exists whether from mounting or shaft deflection and with relatively heavy radial loads and some axial loads in either direction. They are also extremely resistant to shock loads and their self-aligning feature allows full capacity loading despite shaft deflection. They are very similar in purpose to self-aligning double row ball bearings, except the spherical roller bearings are designed to be more robust by carrying heavier loads but at lower maximum speeds. These bearings have barrel-shaped rollers between the inner ring, which has two raceways, and the outer ring which has one spherical raceway.

Spherical Roller bearings can also handle axial loading in either direction and heavy shock loads. Available with a cylindrical or a tapered bore for mounting with or without a sleeve adapter, and tapered bore bearing part numbers are designated with a K suffix. A taper of 1: 12 is standard except for 24000, 24100 and 24200 series, which have a taper of 1:30.

In addition, a lubrication groove and three oil holes are provided in the bearing outer ring as standard. This is designated by the W33 suffix. This design feature allows the lubrication to flow between the roller paths, through a single lubrication fitting.

Application

The spherical roller bearings are generally used in paper manufacturing equipment, air-blower, textile machine, gear boxes, continuous casters, rolling mill pinion stands, table rollers, crushers, shaker screens, printing cylinders and so on.
