How to maintain the front and rear wheel bearings of the car?

2022-10-19

The front and rear wheel bearings of the car need to be maintained at least once every 2 years, but many people do not know how to maintain the front and rear bearings. Now I will tell you the specific steps for the maintenance of the front and rear bearings of the vehicle.

About bearing maintenance

1. The vehicle should work within the rated load range. If it is seriously overloaded, it will directly cause the custom bearing to be overloaded, which will cause the bearing to fail early, and more seriously, it will cause vehicle failure and personal safety accidents;

2. It is forbidden for the bearing to be subjected to abnormal impact load;

3. Regularly check the use state of the bearing, and pay attention to observe whether there is abnormal noise and local rapid temperature rise in the bearing part;

4. Regularly and quantitatively add lubricating oil or grease as required;

5. According to the use of the vehicle, the lubricating oil should be completely replaced at least every six months, and the bearings should be carefully checked;

6. Inspection under the maintenance state of the wholesale bearing: clean the disassembled bearing with kerosene or gasoline, carefully observe whether there is sliding or creeping on the inner and outer cylindrical surfaces of the bearing, whether the inner and outer raceway surfaces of the bearing have peeling, pitting, and rolling elements. And whether the cage is worn or deformed, etc., according to the comprehensive situation of the bearing inspection, it is judged whether the bearing can continue to be used.

The specific operation steps of car front and rear wheel bearing maintenance

Step 1: Basic Preparation

First, prepare lithium-based No. 2 grease or molybdenum disulfide grease, 500 ml of kerosene or diesel for lamps, waste cloth or old clothing, a washbasin, parts storage box, repair tools, and markers. Find a sunny flat, tighten the handbrake and hold the car in gear, which can assist in fixing the rear/front tires.

Step 2: Unscrew the fixing bolts to remove the front and rear wheels

Loosen the front/rear wheel fixing bolts on both sides in a diagonal sequence. Then use a jack to raise one front/rear wheel, then use an iron triangle bracket or wooden brick to stabilize it, and repeat this process to stabilize the other side. Then remove the loosened front/rear wheel fixing bolts into the storage parts box. Then remove the front/rear wheels. After removing the front/rear brake pads, be sure to distinguish the left and right inside and outside and mark them with a marker. From the rear, remove the front/rear bearing head cover cap, remove the safety pin of the flower basket fixing bolt, loosen and remove the bolt.

Step 3: Check the bearing condition and do maintenance

After completing the above step, the next step is to check the cylindrical bearing condition. First, remove the inner and outer bearings for inspection. If they are severely worn, they should be replaced in time. If there is no serious wear, they can be cleaned with kerosene or diesel oil. Then apply grease evenly to the inner and outer bearings and put them back in place. Tighten the turnbuckle bolts, and then pour them back one and a half times. Finally, rotate the front/rear bearings to check whether they are loose or stretched, and repeat the adjustment until they are not loose or stretched. , Install turnbuckle bolt safety pin, front/rear axle protection cap.

Step 4: Check and maintain brake discs and finishing work

First of all, we need to carefully wipe the oil on the brake disc and pad surface with a clean cloth, and then check the brake disc, pad body and surface. If there is any damage, it should be repaired or replaced in time. Then install the front wheel, tighten the bolts in diagonal order, and repeat the process to complete the maintenance on the other side. Next, use the jack to lift one side of the front wheel to remove the triangle iron bracket or pad, and unload the jack to make the front/rear wheel touch the ground. Repeat this process so that the other front/rear wheel touches the ground. Finally, tighten the tire fixing bolts diagonally with a wrench to complete the entire process.
